If you follow me on social media, you know I love giving a good book rec. While I have some recent “everyone needs to read this” recommendations like the Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin (start with The Fifth Season) and Vicious by V.E. Schwab, the best recs are based on other favorites—books, movies, and TV.

I recently binged the first season of Wynonna Earp on Netflix. (Thanks to my trope twin Bree from Kit Rocha for telling me I needed to watch.) It’s so my show. Powerful women kicking ass. Demons to be slain. Mysteries to be solved. Complicated family dynamics. Gah. It’s so good. I’m mid-season two right now, and it’s getting better with each episode.

Plus, my shipper heart is here for this:

Which brings us back around to book recs. If you love Wynonna Earp, I have books you need to read.

IF YOU LOVE WYNONNA EARP READ…

Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
You want a monster hunter? A heroine with power she’s not certain of, but no problem thrusting her middle finger in the air at social norms? Badass worldbuilding and a breakneck pace? You need to be reading Trail of Lightning like yesterday.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
It might be that I listened to the Raven Cycle books on audio (OMG so good!), but I associate them with sticky summer nights and cicadas and that unique sense of welcome in a place you don’t want to be. If you loved Waverly pushing herself to let Wynonna be the heir, but still following her own path to defeat the revenants, you need to meet The Raven Boys.

Graveminder by Melissa Marr
Three words for you: Gothic ghost story. I’ve loved this book for a very long time. If the southern vibes melded with mystery and the right levels of eerie and chills, snag Graveminder.

Wake of Vultures by Lila Bowen
Western meet the supernatural in Wake of Vultures with the same ballsy power you love in Wynonna Earp.
